Abstract

This paper explores the potential of developing and implementing co-management on the Sao Francisco river in Brazil. It is an output of a rapid field assessment of fishing communities conducted by the authors at the Sao Francisco river basin (Gutberlet: Seixas 2003), as part of a larger project.
