Abstract

A workshop on “Sea Rescue Systems for Fishermen” was organized by the South Indian Federation of Fishermen Societies (SIFFS) at the Institute of Management in Government (IMG), Trivandrum, Kerala, India on 18 June 2002. Inaugurating the workshop, P C George, former Fisheries Development Commissioner, Government of India, stressed the importance of matching technology with needs and affordability. He said that the protection of life and property and ensuring safety at the workplace is the responsibility of the government.
