Abstract

This paper assesses various determinants of the income and expenditure pattern of fisherfolk in selected rural villages of Tuticorin coastal areas viz., Vellapatti, Punnakayal and Tharuvaikulam. The socio-economic conditions of fishermen are described with special emphasis on employment, income and expenditure pattern of fishermen families. The size of the family and the income level of fisherfolk showed significant relationship with expenses.
