Abstract

The coastal areas of Southeast Asia contain great biodiversity, where livelihoods of people are directly and indirectly dependent on the natural resources. In order to pursue sustainable development of the natural resources for rural area advancement, attempts have been initiated to harmonize the utilization of the resources with conservation. However, such efforts have encountered certain difficulties that hinder further development as the linkage between natural resources and ecosystem services and utilization represents a complex web of processes.
