Abstract

At the core of Australia’s Oceans Policy is the development of Regional Marine Plans (RMP) for each of the major marine ecosystems that comprise Australia’s offshore jurisdictional area. The South-East Regional Marine Plan (SERMP) is the first such plan to be developed. It covers an area of approximately two million square kilometres, comprising the waters off Victoria, Tasmania, Macquarie Island, southern New South Wales and eastern South Australia.
