Abstract

Sand lobsters are generally land said as a bi catch in shrimp and cephalopod trawl nets operating in coastal waters. The resource is most abundant of the north west and South West Coast. With the increase in demand for sand lobsters in export market the resource achieved from Indians and exploitation. There was no record of a fishery for the resource employing gillnets in India. In Tamilnadu about 15 to 30 feet per annum are landed by travellers.
