Abstract

Eight new patrol boats are to be built by Western Australian shipyard Austal Ships for the Australian Customs Service. To be known as the ‘Bay Class’ series, Austal Ships will supply the 35.0 metre aluminium patrol boats to the Australian Government over a period of 2½ years, with the first vessel due for delivery in March 1999. The remaining seven vessels will be delivered periodically through to February 2001.
