Communication of innovations in marine fisheries to the different sectors of the clientele such as fishermen, fish farmers and fishing industry has been one of the major objectives of the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute. The Institute under its extension programmes have been carrying out research studies and field level extension programmes based on the technologies for culture of prawn, including seed and feed production, oyster, pearl, mussel and sea weed as well as information in capture fisheries such as conservation and management of coastal ecosystem. The activities are carried out under the programmes of Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Trainer's Training Centre, Lab-to-land programme, seminar, exhibitions, literature and other village level extension programmes such as film show, field trip, field day, campaign, workshop, farm visit and use of traditional and mass media.
