Abstract

The Australian Geological Survey Organisation (AGSO) will conduct a seafloor-mapping survey in an area of complex bathymetry to the east of Norfolk Ridge in October-November 1999. This survey is important for confirming and maximising an Australian claim, under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, for extended continental shelf in the area east of the 200-nautical-mile Australian Exclusive Economic Zone around Norfolk Island.
