Abstract

The Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), Mr William A. O’Neil, said: ‘The purpose of the Trust Fund is to pay tribute to the seafarers on whom the shipping industry relies and especially to recognise those seafarers who have lost their lives in what has always been one of the world’s most dangerous professions. The response of the shipping industry has been extremely generous and we are now well on the way towards achieving our target of US$10 million.’
