Abstract

Director of CRC Reef, Mr Simon Woodley, has welcomed recent Federal Government approval for the new Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. Industry, Science and Resources Minister, the Hon. Nick Minchin, recently announced that the new Centre would receive $16.4 million from the Federal Government over the next seven years, starting 1 July 1999. The new Centre will continue the work of the existing CRC and undertake new initiatives.
