Abstract

This article is a summary of the proceedings and recommendations of the seminar on Fisheries extension conducted at the Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Cochin from 8-10 December1980. Fisheries extension is one of the weakest links in the development programmes for fisheries in our country. Realising the immediate need to bring into focus fisheries extension, the Central Marine fisheries research Institute desired to organise a forum for discussing the subject by bringing together different fisheries interests in the country. This resulted in the seminar on fisheries extension jointly organise the four fisheries institutes of the Indian councilof agricultural research, namely the central marine fisheries research institute, central inland fisheries research institute, Central Institute of fisheries technology and Central Institute of Fisheries Education.
