Abstract

The idea of formulating a regional CoC for the SCS was endorsed by the foreign ministers who attended the 29th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in July 1996. The issue of developing a regional CoC in the SCS was also discussed at the Second Meeting of the Technical Working Group on Legal Matters in the SCS held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, 13-17 May 1997.
