Abstract

Will gender and development efforts fail because they exclude men? Will involving men help women’s empowerment? If so, how best to include men in gender and development work? London School of Economics research examines the negative consequences of women-only development initiatives and suggests strategies for change. Ignoring men can push them to sabotage projects and can entail greater workloads for women. Positive strategies to include men could have a beneficial impact on development projects for women and increase their chances of success.
