Abstract

The main issue in this paper is the change from natural to synthetic fibre in the Norwegian fisheries during the 1950s. The focus is on the innovation process and changes in net fishing. Early in the 1950s, the State and the private fishermen conducted parallel fishing tests especially for cod with synthetic fibre nets.
