Abstract

Cook Islands is located east of Samoa and west of French Polynesia. It lies between latitudes 8 to 23 degrees south and longitudes 156 to 167 degrees west. The northern Cook Islands are mainly atolls formed from tips of submerged, coral-encrusted mountains.
