If the golden apple snail (GAS) were real "gold", farmers in the Ifugao Rice Terraces (IRT) would have been grateful to those who brought it to the world-renowned spot in the Philippines. Now one of the major rice pests in the IRT, GAS has been significantly reducing the current yield of about 1.34 tons per ha annually, which is barely enough to feed the families for the whole year.
