Abstract

ICLARM – The World Fish Center has been working in Malawi since 1986 and opened its office there in 1987. This was the 2nd office of the Center outside its headquarters (the first was in Solomon Islands) and on 12 July 2001,the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs, Mr George Mkondiwa, on behalf of the Government of Malawi and the Center’s Director General, Dr. Meryl Williams, signed a Memorandum of Understanding, pledging continued cooperation in research for the management of aquatic resources in Malawi and southern Africa.
