Abstract

FishBase is a repository of available information on the taxonomy, biology, ecology, occurrence and utilization of fish which is available on CD-ROM and the internet at www.fishbase.org This leading database resulted from more than ten years work at ICLARM and in partnership with FAO and other providers of scientific information, map, photographs etc. Freely accessible to everyone, except for commercial use, it is a useful and powerful tool for research in support of management of fish resources and biodiversity in the developing countries, the European Community and other developed regions.
