Sustainable livelihoods… community integrated pest management… what do we mean by these long series of nouns? What are they about? And how are they linked? Taghi Farvar: The Sustainable Livelihoods approach is about communities managing their living in ways that are sustainable in 3 major aspects: environmental/ ecological, social/cultural and economic/financial. First, the living we make must not only avoid environmental degradation— so that future generations can continue to live on our same resources.
