Abstract

This paper addresses the extent to which aspects of developmental law can be found within international fisheries law, and if they can be promoted through fisheries agreements. The EC-ACP fisheries agreements contain several categories of fisheries law. They reflect a change in the pattern of a need based approach indicating inclusion of participatory rights. Fisheries agreements can develop and give content to the aspects of development cooperation, thereby promoting equity of resource allocation at the international level.
