Abstract

In Europe, deliberately or not, small-scale artisanal fishers are being squeezed out, and are now in danger of extinction. European Commission (EC) projections show employment in the fishcatching sector set to decline by 60 per cent over the next ten years—declines that are likely to have greater impacts on the small-scale sector, which employs most of the fisheries workforce.
