Abstract
Marine Fisheries Census 2016 was carried out in four districts of West Bengal namely Purba Medinipur, South 24 Parganas, Howrah and North 24 Parganas, of which the first two are coastal districts and the other two comprise notified marine fishing villages. The scope, time frame and terms used are described in Marine Fisheries Census 2016 India Report. The significant features are summarized below.
