Abstract

Fisheries sector in India, a flourishing sector with varied resources and potentials have a significant role in providing food , nutrition and employment with varied resources engaging a vast majority of coastal populations .t is one of the major sector facing severe challenges ahead despite all the progress made on a number of fronts .The fisheries sector has registered an impressive growth over the years and contributes to the fish food security, employment, forex earnings and income (Yadava, 2001,Shyam 2013). The impetus on growth the Government Of India had initiated under the Blue revolution schemes across different phases focused on resource conservation and management, fisher welfare and infrastructure creation (Bavinck,2008, Hassan et al.,2017, Garlock,2020)
