Abstract

This video is part of the “Social Protection in Rural Areas: building responsive systems in the context of Covid-19” series at the FAO e-learning academy. This session gives us an introduction to social protection in the fisheries and aquaculture sector. Daniela Kalikoski, FAO Fisheries Officer leading the work on social protection in this sector, and Daniella Salazar Herrera, FAO Social Protection and Fisheries Consultant, will explain the rationale behind the urgent need for social protection in the fisheries and aquaculture sector, the impact of COVID-19 on it and the responses of the sector to its social and economic impacts, as well as a way forward.
