Abstract

This study set out to investigate the impact of HIV/ Aids on selected fishing communities in South Africa. The goal of the research was to assist government with mainstreaming of HIV/Aids into fisheries policy through in-depth analysis of the impact of HIV/Aids on fishing communities using a sample of fishing communities in South Africa. The objective of this research project was to undertake in-depth analysis on the link between HIV/Aids, poverty and gender, the nature of underlying factors influencing how the disease is transmitted and development of HIV into Aids. Also, the research intended to look at the potential social and economic impacts of HIV/Aids on fishing communities using in-depth analysis based on a sample of fishing communities.”
