Abstract

“This document sets broad strategic directions for a period of five years and provides a framework on which fisheries socio-economic research priorities can be determined on a more frequent basis. This document is divided into six chapters: Chapter 1 provides a background to the project, Chapter 2 is an overview of fisheries socio-economic issues in South Africa. Chapter 3 outlines the methods used. Chapter 4 provides the proposed socio-economic research themes and chapter 5 is a proposal on how to implement the strategy document. Chapter 6 is the project conclusion.”
