Abstract

In May 2000 an extraordinary group of women came together in Newfoundland, Canada. They were researchers from universities and non-governmental organizations around the world, and women fishworkers from Atlantic Canada. Rising from the Ashes is a one-hour video documentary resulting from this meeting. Women from 18 countries discuss vital fishery issues from the perspective of gender and globalization.
