Abstract

This report offers a commentary on the overall progress reported by governments and organizations in implementing the basic principles and recommendations of the strategy for fisheries management and development. It also examines some of the issues in world fisheries that are now of much greater interest or concern. The paper concludes with proposals for the further and increasingly efficient implementation of the underlying principles and concepts of the strategy.
