Abstract

Since 1989, Brazil has been experimenting with a novel and unique partnership in natural resource extraction and conservation, called “Reservas Extractivistas” or RESEX. This article is about the Ponta do Corumbau Marine Extractive Reserve (Corumbau RESEX), located on the Costa do Descobrimento, 800 km south of Salvador, the capital city of the State of Bahia, Brazil.
