Abstract

The study of the Andamans, post tsunami, looks into issues relating to a) legal and policy frameworks governing them, b) impact of tourism on the coastal communities and the ecosystem, c) fragile coastal and island ecosystems sensitive to the natural and anthropogenic activities affecting them, d) coastal area development, e) the impact of the tsunami in terms of loss to life and property and f) ongoing and planned reconstruction, rehabilitation and development activities in the coastal areas including coastal conservation and regulation issues with respect to legislations and policies.
