Abstract

The paper describes the main characteristics and trends of the general population, the main features of the fisheries sector and describes the relationship between the demographic variables and the levels of exploitation of fisheries resources. It also includes a brief discussion on the general economic policies which influence the general directions of both the population and fisheries policies.
