Abstract

The system of rice production and fish farming in Goa is now reversed. In the past fishing activities were secondary, but now things have reversed. This paper focuses on the socio-economic forces and strategies behind this reversal of productive strategies, its effect on the local environment and in particular significant changes in the traditional fishing system linked with rice cultivation.
