Due to rampant illegal fishing and overfishing, coastal communities in Ghana are struggling to sustain their livelihoods and avoid extreme poverty. The failure to control these threats represents a failure by the government, as duty-bearer, to protect, respect and fulfil the fundamental human rights of fishing communities.
