Mr. Nusai Komprasit, a small-scale fisher-folk leader from Lao PDR, talks about the recent decline and subsequent rehabilitation of fishery resources in the Si Phan Don area of Laos, and how the SSF guidelines will need to be adapted to local contexts. This is one of a series of video interviews highlighting the problems faced by small-scale fishers in the Mekong Region, and reflecting on the importance of the FAO’s ‘Voluntary Guidelines on Securing Sustainable Small-scale Fisheries in the Context of Food Security and Poverty Alleviation’ (‘VGSSF’ or ‘SSF Guidelines’). The interviews were conducted during the workshop 'Securing Small-scale Fishery in the Mekong Region: VGSSF in Action', conducted between 30 April - 1 May 2016 at the Samphran Riverside Resort, Nakorn Pathom Province, Thailand. Produced by Sustainable Development Foundation (SDF) and Federation of Thai Fisher-folk Association (FFF). Supported by International Collective in Support of Fishworkers (ICSF).
