Abstract

This paper traces the history of the shrimp fishing at Fernandina from its begining to World War 1and the evolution of fishing techniques and equipment,development of markets and transportation and methods of preservation.The second section looks into the history of fisheries regulation enforcement in Florida and the shell fish commission.The third section looks in to the wartime maturation ,the jurisdictional struggle and the shrimp regulations in United States of America.
