Abstract

The coastal zone management plan addresses certain critical coastal problems. The problems that have resulted in significant economic and social loss has been given emphasis. The plan defines these problems and describes a management strategy to control coastal erosion; reduce the loss and degradation of coastal habitats such as coral reefs, estuaries and lagoons, mangroves, seagrass beds, salt marshes and barrier beaches, spits and dunes and addresses issues relating to loss and degradation of archaeological ,historical and cultural monuments and sites and areas of recreational and scenic value.
