Abstract

Established in 2006, AKTEA is the European network of women’s organizations in fisheries. The women’s organizations involved with the network are varied: some assist their fisher spouses; some gather shellfish; others mend nets. European fisherwomen’s organizations, through their sustained work, have become important players in the fishing industry and have been able to infl uence policies linked to the sector.
