Abstract

For generations, women fishworkers in the state of Maharashtra in India’s western coast have sold fish. Mumbai,the capital of Maharashtra and India’s economic capital, has 53 municipal fish markets and approximately 70 street fish markets; in addition, countless vendors move door to door throughout the city and its suburbs selling fish.
