Abstract

This paper describes women's role in fisheries and attempts to a) define what women are involved in fisheries; b) indicate their number, using examples and figures drawn from individual countries; c) discuss their role and, in the process, examine their problems and needs and the impact on women of development programmes; d) identify how women might be brought into the mainstream of development activities.
