Abstract

This paper analyses Australia's marine protected areas policy so as to extract lessons or successes which may be applied to improve MPAs in Tanzania. Tanzania has a number of marine protected areas (MPAs), as a coastal nation has to establish a network of marine protected areas for achieving comprehensive marine conservation. Over the past few decades, Australia has emerged as an international leader in marine conservation, launching and implementing a series of national ocean policy and marine protected areas initiatives relevant to marine protection.
