Abstract

This paper deals with the reservoir resource of Asia and its fisheries, in relation to the global capture fishery and fish as a food resource. It also highlights issues related to increasing fish yield from reservoirs and the potential advantages of a more holistic approach to reservoir fisheries management. An attempt is made to highlight ensuing problems associated with increasing reservoir fish production in the region, and to suggest plausible strategies towards that end.
