This report examines four projects funded by the Asian Development Bank and the International Finance Corporation (a partner organization to the World Bank) to highlight how recent investments in longline fishing in the Pacific Ocean for billfish, shark and tuna are coinciding with the overfishing of these fish species and the threat of extinction to species of sea turtles and seabirds. These investments are having a devastating impact on marine biodiversity, target fish stocks and are undermining goals of reducing poverty and unemployment.
