Abstract
Marine living resources of the world's oceans have suffered from overexploitation. The UNCLOS has put in place a legal framework for the management and conservation of these resources, both within the EEZ and on the high seas. Close cooperation, particularly in the exchange of scientific and research data, among the APEC members, will help promote long term optimun economic utilisation based on sustainable management practices.
