Abstract
Managing ecosystems must be reinvented to involve an ongoing process of learning and adapting to ecological phenomena. Adaptive management approaches require creation of decision-making organisations that can perceive patterns of activity and change in ecosystems. This paper offers suggestions for understanding and shaping property regimes to cope with modern scientific understandings. Important insights maybe gained by seeing various forms of resources allocation to human and non-human organisms in an analogous manner.
