The research outputs of ICARCMFRI presented here reflects the work carried out under the 42 in-house research projects, 37 externally funded projects and 11 consultancy projects. The year 2023 witnessed a major success of ICAR-CMFRI as it could successfully implement the marine fish landings data collection system in Andaman & Nicobar Islands (ANI). The total estimated marine fish landings from the country increased to 3.74 million tonnes including the 18381 tonnes from the ANI. The estimated marine fish landings along the mainland of India in 2023 was 3.53 million tonnes, indicating a 1.2% increase over the landings in 2022. Gujarat occupied the first position, followed by Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Compared to the landings in 2022, notable increases were recorded from Gujarat (63.7%), Maharashtra (23.2%), Daman & Diu (23.2%), Goa (16.8%) and Puducherry (2.3%). While reduction in landings was reported from Tamil Nadu (21.8%), Karnataka (13.1%), Andhra Pradesh (12.2%), West Bengal (8.8%), Kerala (7.8%) and Odisha (2.4%).
