Abstract

This paper seeks to develop conceptual links between value chain analysis as a tool for inquiring into institutional arrangements and distributional outcomes in small scale fisheries, and community property rights as an increasingly workable option for coastal resources management. It initially focuses on the top three exports in Philippine fisheries namely tuna, shrimp and seaweeds as means to assess the applicability of value chain analysis on specific commodities as they relate to current situation of production, ecosystems and communities.
