Abstract

This study therefore focuses on the degree to which harmful fisheries subsidies are contributing to distant water fishing (DWF) including high-seas fishing (HSF). The study combines existing global datasets in order to estimate the extent to which host countries and large marine ecosystems are affected by the largest subsidizing nations, and in doing so maps the spatial distribution of the impact of fisheries subsidies throughout the ocean.
