In this documents, Argentina and Brazil emphasise the need for strict discilpine on fisheries subsidies as a significant contribution to the conservatio of marine resources. Accordingly, fisheries subsidies maybe granted for fishing vessel construction, acquisition, repair modification or modernisation, supply of fuel, bait or ice to support operation of fishing fleet, fishing activities related to the subsistence and livelihood of the fishermen and their families, to exploit non-endangered species, to fill fishing quotas within the framework of a regional fisheries management organisation.
