Abstract

On 15th November 2012, a single specimen of the bluntnose sixgill shark, Hexanchus griseus was landed at Sakthikulangara Fisheries Harbour by a deepsea trawler (Fig. 1 and 2). The shark was caught at a depth of 300 m west of Kollam coast The shark weighing 7 kg had six prominent gill slits, fluorescent bluish green eyes, broad head, rounded snout and blade like teeth.
